The monument to Lithuania, built by Vytautas Kašuba in 1995, depicts the Lithuanian King Mindaugas. Mindaugas was the Grand Duke of Lithuania, as well as being the first and only King of Lithuania. The formation of the state of Lithuania and the first steps toward Christianity in the country are associated with Mindaugas.
